Later La Wuandia caught the ear of Sony's songwriter Michael Gray, whom suggested she take part in an Open Mic Event at the Cotton Club (Chicago, USA), where she received a standing ovation, and was urged by the late actor/singer Jimmy Spinks to return at which both he and the late comedian/actor Bernie Mac would go on to mentored her. This exposure went on to create a dynamic yet enchanting vocalist, who does more than just sing - she creates a mood!
